My suggestion is to keep as close to the stock bore as possible, so 87.5mm. This way, if you ever need to remachine the block, *then* you can go to 88mm. This isn't the type of engine where you'll find huge gains from greatly over-boring the block. Also, you don't want to thin out the cylinder walls too much either because of cooling reasons. I got CPs because they came highly recomended and as you said, the finish is second to none. As for the oil squirter issue that's been resolved and now the groove in the piston has a better clearance. Here's a picture of stock versus CP and you'll see that the skirt is shorter than stock now.
